3 Tips to Find the Right Auto Body Shop

by Max Day

When the body of your car gets damaged, you need to visit a body shop. Your mechanic is going to be good at fixing your engine or breaks, but they aren't going to have the skills or tools to handle damage to the body. If you are trying to find the right place to go, there are things that you can do to make sure that the shop you are going to is going to be the one that will give you the best results.

Word of Mouth

One way that you can find a good shop is to talk to your friends and family. See if they have an auto body shop that they have used in the past and if they like that shop or not. If you are hearing a lot of good things about one particular shop then that's probably the one to use.

Insurance Company

If your car is getting worked on because of an accident, that might mean that your insurance company is involved. Check with your insurance company or your local insurance agent to see if they have preferred shops to work with. There may be several reasons that your insurance company likes those shops including things like the fact that the business bills your insurance directly. Their preferred list may have a few shops that you can check out.

Ask Questions

When you are looking for an auto body shop, you should talk to one of the employees and ask them some questions before you make your final decision. You should ask about things like a warranty for their work, what that warranty might cover, and how long the warranty lasts. You also should find out what kind of insurance they carry for their customers' vehicles. You primarily want to make sure that they have theft and fire insurance. Those two things mean that if the body shop has a fire or your car is stolen from the shop's lot your car is going to be covered and you will be able to either replace it or repair any damage.

If your car's body gets damaged, you need to make sure that you take your car to the right place. The right place is an auto body shop. You not only want to make sure that you take your car to a body shop, but that you are also taking the car to the right body shop.
